The Green Hornet was originally created for an American radio program in the 1930s.
The story revolves around a newspaper publisher by the name of Britt Reid. In the course of his jobs, Britt Reid saw the how rampant was the crimes committed by unscrupulous people and underground trials.
So he decided to do something about it and to help the people in needs. So during the nights, he goes out as Green Hornet, a masked superhero character, to fight crimes and put them in order.
The story had it that Britt Reid saved a Japanese by the name of Kato during one of his travelling trips to Far East. Since then, Kato decided to repay Britt by helping him to fight crimes and keep the city safe and peaceful.
Kato was an Asian skilled in martial art. During the day, Kato was Britt Reid’s loyal driver. And in the night, he was the Green Hornet’s partner in fighting crimes and keeping peace in the city.
The radio program was a hit with the local people. There were many comic books published on Green Hornet and Kato. Then in 1940s, the Green Hornet hit the Television.
And in 1960s, a new version Green Hornet serials made for television was aired again. This time, the Kato was played and made famous by Bruce Lee.
The Green Hornet and Kato Costumes are slick and smart. They are like the modern day Lone Ranger and Zorro combined.
They wore western style jackets, pants, hats and masks. They are a more simpler version of Batman and Robin and appealed to people of all ages.
