The character, Katherine Pierce, is a vampire played by Nina Dobrev. She is a young and beautiful which both Stefan and Damon fell for. However, Katherine only loved Stefan.

The story had it that the residents found out that Katherine is a vampire. They captured her and wanted to kill her. However Stefan and Damon came to rescue her. In the process, both Stefan and Damon were killed. Katherine gave her blood to both of them in order to revive them. But ended up, both of them became vampires.

Both Stefan and Damon lost contact with Katherine. Centuries later, Stefan met Elena Gilbert who looked like Katherine. But Stefan is a vampire and Elena is a human.

The love between Stefan and Elena gone through a lot of obstacles and trials with Damon and Katherine.
